Installation

Install the current DataCanon and DataSchemer checkouts into the same environment. Both projects use Meson through meson-python. Python 3.10 or newer is required.

From a directory containing the two code repositories:

python3 -m venv DS
source DS/bin/activate
python -m pip install --upgrade pip
python -m pip install meson meson-python ninja pytest
python -m pip install -e ./data_canon --no-build-isolation
python -m pip install -e ./data_schemer --no-build-isolation

Adjust the checkout paths to match your filesystem. The code repositories are DataCanon and DataSchemer.

Editable installation makes changes in the checkouts available during development. Run the DataSchemer (DS) suite from its code repository:

cd data_schemer
python -m pytest

For shell completion in an application built with SchemaCommandLine, install argcomplete into the same environment:

python -m pip install argcomplete

Register the application’s executable with your shell as described in the SchemaCommandLine (SCL) guide.
